Good Samaritan volunteers celebrating 50 years

At their January luncheon, the Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center Volunteers kicked off a year-long celebration of their fiftieth year.
The Auxiliary was begun in 1966 at the request of Holy Cross Administrator, Anita Wulf. Three community leaders began making contact with interested women in Merrill, and the Holy Cross Hospital Auxiliary had its first organizational meeting. About 35 women participated under the direction of Audrey Taylor, acting President. When the group incorporated, there were 84 charter members. Fifty years later, there are approximately 110 active members.
Over the years the name has changed, but the purpose has remained the same: To promote and advance the welfare of Ministry Good Samaritan and its patients through service and fund raising.
The Volunteers always welcome new members. For more information about opportunities to serve, contact Ramona Hornisher at 715-539-3720.
