Murrey Netland

Murrey Netland, 87, former Catawba resident, died in the Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill on Thursday, January 28, 2016.  She was born in Catawba, Wisconsin, on September 22, 1928, the daughter of Martin and Mabel (Mattson) Evenson.  She was married to Martin Netland on March 27, 1949, in Cameron, Wisconsin.  She was employed as a Baker by Copps IGA in Phillips for a number of years, owned and operated Pine Grove Cheese in Merrill, and attended many craft fairs offering her rosemaled
artifacts.  She was an active member of the Merrill Bible Church, and before that was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Merrill and the Bethany Lutheran Church of Catawba.  In her free time she enjoyed rosemaling, crocheting, quilting, and authoring cookbooks.
She is survived by four children, Martin “Marty” (Julie), Marshall, Arkansas,  Russ (Joanne), Theresa, WI, Ken, Stevens Point, WI, and Cheryl (Ed) Dohm, Merrill; by 7 grandchildren and by 17 great grandchildren; and by one sister-in-law, Bev Evenson, Superior, WI.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin, on January 23, 1987; and by three brothers, Murphy “Pat”, Murrel “Swede”, and Marthinius “Tiny” Evenson.
Cremation has taken place, memorial services will be held at a later date.  Inurnment will be in the Catawba Cemetery in Catawba, Wisconsin.
