The Recreation Deputy is reminding winter recreationists to clean up after themselves. With cold weather providing plenty of ice on local lakes, the Rec. Deputy is finding them filled with ice fisherman and ice shacks. With increased traffic comes the usual problem of garbage left on the ice. If the matter is not enforced, when ice shacks are removed in the spring, debris is left behind and ends up at the bottom of the waterway. The Rec. Deputy noted that both he and the DNR Wardens are taking a pro-active approach this year. Debris surrounding ice shacks will likely end up with the ice shack owner being held responsible for the cleanup and they could face a citation.
