Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reports

A 53-year-old Irma man was arrested early Wednesday morning after a traffic stop in the Town of Birch. A deputy stopped a vehicle on US Hwy. 51 at County Rd. V after a query of the license plate showed the owner’s driver’s license was revoked. When contact was made with the driver, it was confirmed he had no driver’s license due to a prior OWI offense. The man was cited for the traffic offense and brought to the Lincoln County Jail at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for violating terms of his probation.
A 23-year-old Wausau man was arrested late Wednesday night on a drug charge after a deputy investigated a vehicle that had left the roadway and gone into the ditch on US Hwy. 51 at State Rd. 64 in the Town of Pine River. The man was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was booked on the misdemeanor possession charge. He was able to post a cash bond and be released early Thursday morning. The man will be cited for driving on a suspended license.
A 19-year-old Merrill man was arrested Friday evening on warrant charges. Deputies went to a business in the Town of Merrill after the owner complained a neighbor was driving snowmobiles onto his property. Deputies followed the tracks to a nearby residence and identified those involved. A check showed the man was wanted by the Merrill Police Department on four different warrants for contempt of court. The man was arrested on the warrant charge and brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was held until early Saturday morning when he was able to post a cash bond and be released. The activity on the closed trail will be forwarded onto the Recreation Deputy.
A 21-year-old Merrill man was arrested Saturday evening after deputies responded to a reported disturbance in the Town of Pine River. Deputies went to a home in Pine River where the victim told them an argument about drug use led to the disturbance. The suspect was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was held on a probation violation charge.
A 70-year-old Weston man was taken into custody early Sunday morning after a 911 caller reported a reckless driver traveling north on US Hwy. 51 outside of Tomahawk. A deputy located the vehicle a short time later. After observing driving behavior, the vehicle was stopped and the driver was placed through field sobriety tests. As a result of those tests he was taken into custody for a first offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was later released from the jail to a responsible party.
A 56-year-old Tomahawk man was taken into custody late Sunday night on a criminal traffic charge after deputies investigated a hit and run in the Town of King. At 11 p.m., a cell 911 caller reported a vehicle had left a tavern on County Rd. A and struck a parked car in the parking lot as he left. The vehicle was located and stopped on US Hwy. 51 near County Rd. D. The driver was the same person named as being involved in the hit and run. He showed signs of intoxication and was placed through field sobriety tests. As a result of those tests he was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, second offense. The man was also cited for failing to notify law enforcement of a crash, hit and run and for not having insurance before he was released to a responsible party.
The number of car deer crashes remains steady with eight being reported this past week, also a Wittenberg struck a coyote last Monday on County Rd. Q north of County Rd. Z in the Town of Scott.
