Vernon A. Schoessow

Vernon A. Schoessow, age 89, of Merrill, formerly of the Town of Hamburg, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Vernon was born Mary 14, 1926, in Wausau, son of the late Charles and Esther (Maldewin) Schoessow. He married Lucinda Langhoff on April 5, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. They were blessed with four daughters.
Vernon farmed all his life and retired in 1990. He was an active member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg, and served on the church council and was a member of the Men’s Club and the dart ball team. Vernon was a volunteer fireman for 28 years with the Hamburg Fire Department. He loved bowling, horseshoes, darts, and most of all playing cards with his card club and spending time with family and friends.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Lucinda Schoessow of Merrill; three daughters, Jeanette (Gary) Gumtz of Wausau, Irene (Edward) Miller of Edgar and Bonnie (Randy) Gliniecki of Mosinee; one son-in-law, Tony Bartishofski of Tomahawk; seven grandchildren, Todd (Sarah) Bartishofski, Scott Roehl, Jennifer (Jerry) Campbell, Rachel (Justin) Lancaster, Gabriel Miller, Hanna (Jeremy) Olson and Tyler Gliniecki; eleven great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Sally Ann Schoessow of Schofield and Dora (Bud) Raddatz of Marathon. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Esther Schoessow; one daughter, Sandra Bartishofski; his grandchildren, Joshua Roehl and Monica Bartishofski; and his siblings, Elaine Schoessow, Harold Schoessow and Karl Schoessow.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Saturday, December 26, 2015 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg. Pastor Philip Bogen will officiate. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
