A 50-year-old Merrill woman was arrested Monday evening after deputies responded to a disturbance in the Town of Corning. At 9:54 p.m., a caller reported the incident at a home on Highland Avenue. She was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where she was booked on a disorderly conduct charge. She was released late Monday evening after posting a cash bond.
A 28-year-old Wausau man was arrested early Saturday morning on a felony drug warrant. A deputy stopped a vehicle in the Town of Birch just after 4 a.m. after a check showed the vehicle owner had a revoked driver’s license. A check on the passenger showed he was wanted on a felony charge in Marathon County related to the delivery of drugs. The passenger was taken into custody and brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was held awaiting transfer to Marathon County.
A 31-year-old Merrill woman was arrested and a 16-year-old Medford youth was taken to secure detention following a traffic stop Saturday evening in the City of Merrill. A deputy stopped a vehicle on Memorial Drive just before 9 p.m. after he observed it cross the center line several times. The 31-year-old consented to a search of the vehicle which produced a pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana. When asked for identification, the 16-year-old passenger provided a false name to the deputy. The juvenile was on supervision through Lincoln County Social Services. Following a meeting with a social worker, the juvenile was transported to secure detention facing an obstructing charge. The driver was booked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, she was able to post cash bond and was released. She was also cited for failing to have her minor passenger buckled.
The nine-day gun deer hunting season finished up in Lincoln County and the Recreation Deputy was happy to report another safe year was in the books. Just a few problems were noted during the season, most of them having to do with hunters violating rules on county lands. Three reports of shooting after hours or from the roadway were investigated and at least one person who be facing citations after an incident that occurred in the Town of Scott. The Rec. Deputy noted traffic was quite heavy during opening weekend but slowed as the week went on. Most of the hunters he encountered reported good hunting conditions but noted their harvest numbers were low.
The number of car deer crashes remains high with 17 being reported this past week.
