Ronald D. Mittelsteadt

Ronald D. Mittelsteadt, age 68, of Merrill, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.
Ron was born June 14, 1947, in Merrill, son of the late Carl and Elaine (Wendt) Mittelsteadt. He married Faye Kuckhahn on June 24, 1967. She survives. Ron was a 1965 graduate of Merrill Senior High School, where he lettered in football. He was a member of the Merrill Silver M Club and also received his Gold M. Ron was employed with Church Mutual Insurance Company, Merrill, for 34 years, and was the Building Manager. The day after he retired in 2007, both Ron and Faye opened “Faye’s Flower’s & More” south of Merrill off Highway 51. Ron enjoyed snowmobiling and was the founder of the “Rock Island Express” Snowmobile Club. He also enjoyed hunting, ice fishing and trout fishing, Canada fishing trips, gardening, and raising Apple trees. Ron had been the Red Cross Disaster Coordinator for Lincoln County, and served 12 years on the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors. For many years Ron was the manager of St. Paul’s Cemetery, Town of Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Mittelsteadt, Merrill; two daughters, Rhonda (Chris) Nowak, and Rhegan (Roy) Eggebrecht, both of Merrill; his son, Robin (Tania) Mittelsteadt, Merrill; six grandchildren, Ashley and Nickolas Nowak, and Kyah, Zachary, Bryce, and Brady Eggebrecht; and two sisters, Cindy Bushar (with Mike Lemmer) of Tennessee, and Pam (Paul) Schotz, Merrill.
The funeral will begin at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. R. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Town of Scott. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 9:30 A.M. Wednesday at the church. Ron’s family asks that memorial be directed to the St. Paul’s Cemetery Association.
