Zombie Walk to benefit Free Clinic

The undead will be taking a shuffle through town on Saturday, Oct. 10 to benefit the Merrill Free Clinic. The Zombie Walk event is sponsored by the Haunted Sawmill and coincides with the opening weekend of the haunted attraction.
“We wanted to further our mission of helping out the community,” said Gerald Hersil, chairman of the Haunted Sawmill committee. The Free Clinic provides medical services to local residents who are uninsured, underinsured or have prohibitively high deductibles.
According to Hersil, interest in the Zombie Walk has been building on social media. The Zombie Walk has its own website at www.thehauntedsawmillzombiewalk.com. Prospective zombies can register for the walk online on the website. Pre-registration to order a Zombie Walk t-shirt closes today (Wednesday), but participants can still register up until the day of the event.
The Zombie Walk will start at 1 p.m. at the Lincoln County Courthouse, proceeding through downtown Merrill to Mill Street and then on to the Haunted Sawmill at 700 Hendricks St. Following the walk, live music and a costume contest will be offered at the Haunted Sawmill.
