The Merrill girls found themselves in yet another 4-3 match last Monday, but Marshfield came out on top of this one.
Then valley leader SPASH blanked the girls a couple days later.

“Our match against Marshfield was very close and competitive, but as the scores show, the one against Stevens Point was quite one-sided,” MHS coach Janet Thompson said. “SPASH has been very dominant in the Valley this season, beating every team by a 7-0 shutout.

“Our players are now looking forward and preparing for a very important upcoming week for us. We have our final dual match on Tuesday against Wisconsin Rapids and the Valley Conference Meet on Thursday.”

Katie Nelson came the closest to victory in a 6-1, 6-3 loss. Other losses were handed to Grace Huftel (6-0, 6-0), Michaela Raleigh (6-0, 6-0), Lea Beckman (6-0, 6-0), Cassy Plachetka/Miranda Vosburgh (6-1, 6-0), Cate Murray/Katie Tomalak (6-0, 6-0) and Allison Winter-Reed/Morgan McAllister (6-1, 6-1).

Edge of the Tiger

Marshfield swept doubles and took the top singles match to pull out the win.
Bluejay victories came from Raliegh (6-4, 6-4), Nelson (6-2, 6-0) and Beckman (6-1, 6-1). Losses were given to Huftel (6-1, 6-2), Plachetka/Ament (6-0, 6-0), Tomalak/Murray (6-0. 6-4) and Winter-Reed/McAllister (6-0, 6-3).
