Merrill Police Department reports

September 7
A party reported his medication was stolen and identified a female suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers responded to a reported 911 hang up where female was heard out of breath and advised dispatch she was by herself when another party could be heard in the background. Upon arrival it was determined a domestic incident had occurred due to relationship issues. Officers will be forwarding reports for charges against parties involved.
September 10
7:46 a.m.- Officers of the Merrill Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a female possibly being forced into a vehicle by a male. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The male occupant was arrested for an active warrant. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation regarding a possible battery by the male against the female since the incident took place in their jurisdiction.
9:08 a.m.- An officer investigated a theft in the 1700 block of East 2nd Street.
September 11
1:01 p.m.- A 16-year-old male was cited for juvenile possession of tobacco after it was found he had brought a pack of cigarettes on the school bus.
2:33 p.m.- A store employee reported two females in their store stealing merchandise. One female was stealing items while the other acted as a lookout. Both were cited for retail theft.
11:43 p.m.- A caller reported a neighbor had told her there was loud noise coming from a nearby apartment. Contact was made at the apartment. A male and female had been arguing. It was found the male had been drinking in violation of his probation rules; he was subsequently arrested for a probation violation.
September 12
1:58 a.m.- A caller reported a male and female in a domestic dispute. Officers met with the couple and it was found a physical altercation occurred following a verbal argument after the male returned home intoxicated. As a result the male was arrested for domestic battery.
3:45 a.m.- An officer on patrol came upon a vehicle parked, running in the roadway in the 300 block of West Taylor Street. A male was found passed out behind the steering wheel. The officer was able to wake the man who displayed characteristics indicative of intoxication. The man refused to perform field sobriety tests. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
7:16 a.m.- A caller reported sometime overnight someone cut a chain off of four tires he had for sale in his yard and stole the tires.
7:45 a.m.- The Department of Corrections contacted officers requested a probationer be arrested for violating the terms of his electronic monitoring. The man was located and arrested for the probation violation.
4:47 p.m.- A caller reported being involved in a crash earlier on East Main Street at Pine Ridge Avenue. She reported a vehicle rear-ended her while at the intersection. The two exchanged information on scene. The offending vehicle sustained no damage however the vehicle he struck suffered damage. A crash report was completed.
5:32 p.m.- A caller reported he had struck a pole in a store parking lot. A crash report was completed and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
6:36 p.m.- A caller reported a man seemingly passed out near a park. An officer located the intoxicated man. He was found to be on probation and was arrested for probation violation as he is not to consume intoxicants as part of his probation rules.
September 13
12:48 p.m.- A caller reported being battered by another male while at a mutual friend’s residence. The officer spoke to both parties and found conflicting stories from the caller and alleged suspect. A witness was spoken to as well. Based on the statement of the witness and physical limitations of the alleged suspect no enforcement action was taken.
4:11 p.m.- A caller reported a neighbor boy came to his residence to report his mother was being battered by her boyfriend. Officers met with the couple. The female was found to have a large bump and swelling to her forehead as well as bruising about her arms. She stated the boyfriend had headbutted her and the bruising was from an incident a couple days prior. The boyfriend was arrested for domestic battery and domestic disorderly conduct.
