Two Century Farm families to be honored

By Bob Gruling
The Merrill Historical Society will present Century Farm certificates to two families at the Lincoln County Fair activity tent on Friday, July 24 at 9 a.m. The two Century Farm families to be honored are Monty and Joanne Sczygelski, W6973 School Ave., town of Scott, and Gene and Charlene Woller, W9620 Highland Ave., town of Corning. The public is invited to attend this interesting and informative presentation honoring the 2015 recipients.
To qualify for Century Farm recognition, the farm (in whole or part) must have been in continuous family ownership. Title of the Century property today must reside in a blood relative of the original owner, or a legally adopted child of a descendant. Continuous residence in the state or on the property is not required, but the title to the property must be continuous. Both Century Farm families will also be recognized at a special breakfast program during the Wisconsin State Fair in August.
