Merrill Police Department reports

July 10
5:26 a.m.- Officers responded to a driving complaint. Officers located the vehicle and ultimately arrested a female for Operating While Intoxicated.
1:22 p.m.- Officers responded to a call of a fight in the 300 block of Genesee Street. The male victim was treated for serious injuries. One male was arrested for Disorderly Conduct. A second male suspect is still at large and will be charged in the near future.
July 11
12:18 a.m.- A caller reported that a male subject whom they did not know had entered their house without consent. Officers located the male subject in the driveway of the residence and he was detained at that point. It was found that during the course of his arrival at the property he had damaged a service door to the garage. The male subject was arrested for criminal trespass to a dwelling, criminal damage to property and a probation violation. He was transported to the jail.
12:25 a.m.- Officers took a report of a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arrival of officers, it was found that the male suspect had fled from the scene with another individual. During the course of the investigation, it was found that the male subject showed up at the residence and shoved the female party. The male subject will be charged with domestic disorderly conduct and bail jumping.
9:10 p.m.- Officers took a report of a domestic disturbance that was occurring on Grand Avenue. The investigating officer found that the female suspect had thrown a beer can at the male subject striking him. The officer was unable to locate the female suspect and this matter will be forwarded to the district attorney’s officer for charges.
9:56 p.m.- Officers took a report of a disturbance that had taken place while a group of youths were walking down the street. The youths indicated that they had a confrontation with a male subject when the male jumped out of his vehicle and advised the youths that he was “tweeking on meth.” The male subject punched one of the youths in the head and then fled the area. Based on the description of the male subject and the vehicle, officers were able to locate the suspect. The male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and bail jumping.
July 13
8:58 a.m.- An officer responded to a report of a hit and run accident in a parking lot of a North Center Avenue business. The caller indicated that the vehicle had struck an object causing damage. The striking vehicle operator was identified and the operator admitting to panicking after striking the object and did not call the matter in. He was cited for hit and run.
Officers received a report that a male subject that had active warrants for his arrest was at an address in the city. Officers were unable to locate the male subject at that residence. Later, the wanted subject called and wanted to meet with officers to turn himself in. He was located and taken into custody for the active warrants.
3:33 p.m.- An officer took a report of an incident involving an adult male and a group of youths. During the course of the investigation of the incident, it was found that the adult male had brandished a knife towards the youths. The adult male was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and also charged with physical abuse to a child for striking one of the youths.
July 14
12:37 p.m.- An officer responded to a business after staff indicated a male subject had stolen a magazine from the store. The investigating officer was unable to locate the suspect at the time, but the investigation is ongoing.
8:08 p.m.- Officers were requested to go to a residence and locate a male subject who had violated the rules of his electronic monitoring bracelet. The male subject was taken into custody on the warrant and transported to the jail.
July 15
1:16 p.m.- An officer investigated a Burglary in the 800 block of North State Street.
July 16
10:39 a.m.- An officer investigated damage to two of the parks in the city. The investigation continues.
July 17
10:06 a.m.- An alleged burglary was reported in the 900 block of East 4th Street. A resident advised that she had left her house and upon returning she found her back door open as well as a window that were secured prior to her leaving. Nothing was reported missing.
A male party reported a scam attempt. It was reported he was trying to sell an item on craigslist and that he received a check for $1,500 for the item with a request to send the difference back. A check of the account information revealed it was a fake account. There was no financial loss to the victim.
A male party was located and arrested for Substantial Battery and Criminal Damage to property for his involvement in a previous fight.
July 18
A vandalism incident was reported at Dave’s County Market. Officers found vulgar material written on the side of the business. There have been several incidences involving vulgar material being written on locations in the city. Any persons with information are encouraged to contact the police department.
10:51 p.m.- A report of a stolen vehicle was investigated. Information obtained was a vehicle was parked outside an establishment on Prospect Street. When the owner returned to the vehicle it was missing. Officers and the owner looked for the vehicle in the immediate area and were unable to locate it. A short time later an officer located the vehicle parked in a different area near the original location. The vehicle was taken without the owner’s consent and the investigation continues.
July 19
12:26 a.m.- Officers responded to a reported fight at Les and Jim’s involving a large group of people. Upon arrival officer’s learned that a physical alteration had occurred between a bride and groom and wedding reception guests. A male and female party were struck during the fight. The male needed stitches for a laceration as a result from being punched. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
2:16 a.m.- An officer observed a vehicle parked behind a gas station on South Center Avenue with no lights on and a male party sitting inside. The officer made contact with the male to check on him. The male’s explanation for his being there at that time had several inconsistencies. Eventually a younger female approached and explained she was meeting her boyfriend. This explanation also contained several inconsistencies. Eventually it was learned that the female had snuck out of her house and was meeting the male to run away with. The female juvenile was returned to her guardian at her house.
