Peony farm tour offered

Live Sustainable Lincoln County meets on Sunday, June 14 at 3 p.m. to take a tour at Ovans Peony Farms in Merrill. The public is welcome to join for this tour. Please meet at the farm, N1139 Mink Rd., Merrill.
Ovans Peony Farm is a small family owned farm that specializes in growing florist-grade peonies. Just as the “local food” movement is growing, locally grown cut flowers are also in demand. What’s more, this garden’s northern Wisconsin location produces peonies when production in other states has already wilted.
Michelle and John Ovans are both retired from 20-year Navy careers. They are dedicated to unique and environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional flowers. They sell peony blooms direct to flower lovers, designers, brides and wholesalers. They currently grow over 650 peony plants, showcasing over 40 varieties of peonies.
