Merrill Police Department reports

May 18
10:08 a.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation and Parole.
11:59 a.m.- A caller reported damage to her vehicle while parked at her place of employment. The officer will be conducting follow-up.
6:20 p.m.- A caller reported items stolen from an abandoned house.
7:22 p.m.- An officer observed a male driving a vehicle he suspected having a warrant for his arrest. A warrant was confirmed by dispatch. The man was arrested for a warrant through the Department of Corrections.
May 19
10:48 p.m.- A report of a male exposing himself in the 3500 block of East Main Street was received. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person described.
Officers responded to an address in the 2700 Block of Glen Drive for an agency assist. Marathon County requested officers make contact with a male party and take him into custody on theft charges in their jurisdiction. The male was located and arrested for the charges and was turned over to a Marathon County deputy.
8:12 p.m.- Officers responded to the 600 block of North Genesee Street for a reported domestic occurring. It was reported parties in a residence were yelling and fighting. Upon arrival it was learned adults inside the residence were yelling at kids to keep it down while using a karaoke machine.
May 20
2:24 p.m.- A female was arrested on a Probation Violation and brought to the jail.
9:18 p.m.- An officer stopped a vehicle for equipment and registration violations. The female driver was arrested on a Probation Violation and was cited for Operating after Revocation 3rd Offense.
11:58 a.m.- A caller reported someone had stolen items from his garage sometime in the past few weeks.
2:24 p.m.- A female was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
9:18 p.m.- An officer stopped a vehicle for equipment violations and a suspended registration. The driver was found to have a revoked driver’s license with two prior convictions. She was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Department of Corrections.
May 21
1:49 a.m.- A caller reported returning home to find her door ajar. She was certain the doors were locked when she departed. She did not report anything missing or disturbed.
12:16 p.m.- A caller reported a man at a store acting suspiciously and asking her and other patrons for information for him to purchase drugs locally. The officer could not locate the man.
1 p.m.- A man was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
5:20 p.m.- A caller reported sometime in the past couple days someone stole a 5-foot tall metal sunflower from the front of his business.
May 22
9:51 a.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
4:32 p.m.- A female was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
4:45 p.m.- A caller reported a hit & run crash that occurred in a store parking lot. She returned to her vehicle after shopping and discovered someone had struck her vehicle causing a dent and then fled the scene.
7:51 p.m.- An officer stopped a vehicle after observing the occupants not wearing their seatbelts. The K9 unit arrived to offer assistance. The K9 officer spoke with the driver who admitted she had marijuana. She turned over a small quantity of marijuana. She was cited for possession of THC.
May 23
12:52 a.m.- An officer stopped a vehicle due to the registered owner having an active warrant for his arrest. The registered owner was confirmed to be driving and he was taken into custody for the active warrant. The male subject was also cited for underage drinking, minor transporting intoxicants, and bail jumping.
2:08 a.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the course of the initial contact, the officer noted an odor of intoxicants coming from within the vehicle. The operator was found to not have been consuming any alcohol, but four other passengers of the vehicle were found to have been drinking and were cited for underage drinking.
5:51 p.m.- Officers responded to a two motor vehicle crash in the parking lot of a business in the 300 block of East First Street. The operator of one of the vehicle displayed signs indicative of impairment and was placed through field sobriety tests. Based on those tests, the female subject was taken into custody for operating while under influence 1st offense.
9:15 p.m.- Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of N. Prospect Street. The incident was found to be only verbal between the two individuals. One of the subjects agreed to go to a different residence for the rest of the evening. No arrests were made in this matter.
10:42 p.m.- An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on East First Street. The vehicle was stopped and the driver displayed several clues indicative of impairment. The officer attempted to have the male subject perform field sobriety tests, but he was unable to complete them due to his level of intoxication. The male subject was taken into custody for operating while under the influence 5th offense. The male subject was transported to the jail on the charges of OWI 5th offense and as also cited for speed and operating after suspension 2nd offense.
May 24
2:28 a.m.- An officer on patrol observed a youth riding his bicycle on South Foster Street. Due to the youth being in violation of the City of Merrill curfew ordinance, the officer made contact with the youth. During the contact, the youth was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was transported to his residence and turned over to his mother. He was cited for possession of marijuana and the curfew violation.
3:15 a.m.- Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of North Prospect Street for a reported domestic disturbance. Officers spoke with the two individuals and found that the incident did not reach the level of a mandatory arrest. The male subject was provided a ride to a friend’s house for the evening.
