Lightning strike suspected in barn fire

At approximately 3:20 a.m. on Thursday, the Lincoln County 911 Center received a report of a fully engulfed barn fire on County Line Road outside Gleason in the township of Russell.
By the time deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters from the town of Russell Fire Department arrived, the barn had collapsed. There were several animals including steers and goats in the barn that perished in the blaze. One goat was able to be rescued.
The town of Pine River Fire Department and Wisconsin Public Service also assisted to the scene. At this time it appears that a lightning strike may have been the cause of the fire.
