Delores May Hass, age 91, of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Delores was born July 22, 1923, in Merrill, daughter of the late Louis and Mabel (Trantow) Johnson. She married Marvin Hass and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1998. Delores was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill, where she was involved in the Mission Circle. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and take care of others, but with Delores, family came first. Delores enjoyed playing cards with her friends, especially Sheepshead. She really appreciated people stopping by to play cards with her at her home or at Pine Crest. In her younger years, Delores enjoyed going to casinos and playing the slot machines. She also liked a good old-fashioned.
Delores is survived by her daughter, Kristine Smith of Merrill; her sister-in-law, Joan Johnson of Merrill; and her nieces, Harriet Boettcher of Merrill, Judy Hass of the Town of Rock Falls, and Kathy (Jim) Schwartzman of Merrill . She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Hass; her parents, Louis and Mabel Johnson; and one brother, William Johnson.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 21, 2015, at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. Pastor Missy Holdorf will officiate. Interment will take place Monday afternoon at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill or Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.
