The woman killed in a Tuesday afternoon crash on Hwy. 17 has been identified as Holly L. Schinke, 33, of Merrill.
At about 1:33 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a two-vehicle, head-on crash which occurred on Hwy. 17 just south of Smith Road in the town of Merrill.
Both drivers, along with a passenger from one of the involved vehicles, were transported by Merrill EMS to Good Samaritan Health Center due to injuries sustained in the crash. Schinke, a driver of one of the vehicles, was later pronounced dead at Good Samaritan Health Center by the Lincoln County Coroner.
The crash remains under investigation and a crash reconstruction team from the Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
Hwy. 17, which was closed in both directions at the scene of the crash, was reopened to normal traffic at approximately 5:17 p.m. Also assisting with this crash were the Pine River and Merrill fire departments.
