The Hatchet wrestlers put six in the top two needed to advance to sectional in D2 out of Saturday’s WIAA Wittenberg Regional, placing third in the six-team meet.
“We’ve got six to sectionals and all six have a legitimate chance (to qualify for state),” Garrou said.
Tomahawk pounded out four titles with Nate Flohr (145 pounds, 32-9), Kaleb Kaminski (182, 44-0), Dane Borchardt (220, 43-1) and Jake Borchardt (285, 39-5). Salde Erdman (170, 38-7) and Jacob Schaper (195, 24-5) both finished second.
“Kaleb will get tested at sectional; they all will,” Garrou said. “Nate wrestled very well and handled a kid we thought was going to be a tough match. Our upper weights wrestled very well. They had a good attitude.”
Blake Mueller (160, 14-14) was third, and Tasha Carstensen (106, 6-7), Brady Anderson (113, 21-22), Keagan Jach (138, 20-17) and Dakota Tomek (152, 17-19) all ranked fifth. Blake Carstensen (120, 13-24), Matt Turkiewicz (132, 11-17) ended up sixth.
