Edward I. Brandenburg

Edward I. Brandenburg, 95, of Merrill, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Ed was born October 20, 1919, in Merrill, son of the late Carl and Josephine (Paquin) Brandenburg.  He was brought up on the family farm in the Town of Maine, Marathon County.  Ed served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Manila, Philippines.  He returned home and married Lois Pfister on July 3, 1948.  She survives.  Ed worked at Anderson Bros. & Johnson Quarry.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors, and music.  He was very artistic in metal work. Ed was also a foster parent for 10 years.  Ed had an evangelistic heart and enjoyed sharing his love of the Lord Jesus and how He set him free.  
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lois Brandenburg of Merrill; five daughters, Deanna (Bill) Lee of Wausau, Karen Prentice of Wausau, Ruth (William) Scudder of Ortonville, MI, Peggy (Robert) Nikolai of Presque Isle, WI, and Betsy (Peter) Wood of Wisconsin Rapids; 13 grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.  Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Josephine Brandenburg; three sons-in-law, Ernest Nienow, Jerry Prentice, and Thomas Drengler; six sisters, Inza (Charles) Grohman, Laura (Charles) Arymen, Violet (Adrian) Liljiquist, Lavine (Hubert) Krueger, Ella (Herbert) Laatsch, and Irene (Paul) Woller; and three brothers, Grover (Liela) Brandenburg, Earl (Erma) Brandenburg, and Karl (June) Brandenburg. 
The funeral service for Ed will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 13, 2015 at Hillside Fellowship of the Assemblies of God, Merrill.  The Rev. Allen J. Worlin will officiate.  Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Town of Maine, with graveside military rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1638, Merrill.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Friday at the church.  The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
