Tax help at T.B. Scott Library

New at T.B. Scott Free Library this tax season, Merrill area taxpayers can get personal tax preparation help at one of four sessions, the first scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4.
The four tax assistance sessions will be on Wednesday, Feb. 4 from 9:30 a.m. to noon; Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 1-3:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 14 from 9:30 a.m. to noon; and Wednesday, April 8 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
Half-hour consultations are available.  While reservations are appreciated, they’re not required.  To make a reservation, call the library at 715-536-7191.
Kimberly Haas of Wausau will be providing tax assistance at these sessions. Haas is the Deputy Director, Civil Unit Director, and Staff Attorney at Wisconsin Judicare, Inc. in Wausau. She has been an adjunct tax professor at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County since 2011, and has volunteered with the VITA tax program for five years.
Besides one-on-one tax assistance sessions, the library is also a distribution point for tax materials. This year, the IRS is distributing only 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms in bulk. The library has received Wisconsin tax forms and instructions in bulk. If tax materials aren’t available or in stock, we’ll help you find and print them out from the Internet. Call or check the library’s website at www.tbscottlibrary.org to find out the availability and cost to get the tax materials you’re seeking.
If you want to file your taxes online, but don’t have a computer, use the library’s public computers to connect to the Internet. Let us know you’re working on taxes and you’ll get all the time you need.
Tax assistance is just one of the services T.B. Scott Free Library provides. To find out more about the library, call, view the library’s website, or check out the library’s Facebook page at “T.B. Scott Free Library.”
