Local Man Finds a Shocking Experience after a bout with Police

Early Saturday morning, officers responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver on CTH Q. Officers caught up with the vehicle a short time later at the intersection of State and West Tenth Streets. Officers followed the vehicle as it reportedly accelerated over 35 mph.
According to officer notes, the vehicle began to weave, crossing both sides of the roadway and struck an embankment at the intersection of 10th and St. Paul Streets. A traffic stop was attempted by the officer after activating the emergency lights on his patrol vehicle. Rather than stop, the brown Toyota pick-up turned into a driveway and entered into the garage of a residence.
The driver; Bradley Emanuel began to shut the garage door until he was met by officers at which point he reportedly resisted attempts to take him into custody.
The confrontation led to officers using a TASER to bring Emanuel under control and place him under arrest. After being taken into custody, Emanuel continued to resist officer attempts at placing him into the backseat of a patrol vehicle.
Following transport to a Ministry-Good Samaritan Health Center, Emanuel’s resistive behavior continued when he refused to consent to a blood test. The officer then contacted the Honorable Judge Robert Russell, Branch 2 of Lincoln County Circuit Court, to obtain a warrant to collect Emanuel’s blood.
At 3:37 AM, Judge Russel signed the warrant and officers returned to MGSHC and obtained a blood sample.  Emanuel was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail on a felony charge of 4th Offense Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated, and two misdemeanor charges of Resisting/Obstructing an Officer and Fleeing/Failure to Stop for an Officer.
According to Lincoln County Circuit Court records, Emanuel made his initial appearance on Monday morning in front of the Honorable Jay R. Tlusty. Emanuel was released on $2,500 signature bond with the stipulations of no alcohol, taverns or bars except for work, and not to operate a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
