Hodags ride out rally

The Hatchet boys hockey team trailed Rhinelander just 1-0 after a period last Tuesday, and then rallied from a 4-0 deficit to close within 5-4 early in the third. But the Hodags pulled out the 7-4 victory with a pair of late goals.
“My guys fought hard and played with more heart and desire than I’ve seen out of a Hatchet team in years… even after we were down our three best players,” THS coach Rick Myre said. “My hat goes off to Danny Hanke. Without him between the pipes, this game would have been 30-to-zero. I can honestly say my guys play as a team!”
Alex Ungerer (A- Nick Osero/ A- UA) wrapped a pair of second-period goals around a score from Cayton Scholz (A- Osero). Scholz (A- Osero) netted a power-play goal 1:29 into the third to pull THS within a tally, but Kade Kennedy pushed it to two and Kurt Zunker reached a hattrick to end it.
