Alice K. Peterson

Alice K. Peterson, age 76, of Merrill, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Bell Tower Residence, surrounded by her loving family. 
Alice was born April 15, 1938, in Woodruff, daughter of the late Joseph and Hazel (Groth) Kohl. She married Otto ‘Butts’ Peterson on September 1, 1957 at the former Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Merrill. He survives. As a youth, Alice attended the Arbor-Vitae Woodruff School, graduating in 1956. She taught Sunday school at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and was active in the Our Saviours Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, and Miriam Sewing Group, helping knit quilts for the needy. Alice was also a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Alice had a variety of jobs, including working as a waitress at the former Hinz’ Cork & Dyne, and in the deli at Piggly Wiggly. 
Alice died after a long battle with Polycystic Kidney Disease. Throughout her life, Alice was a wonderful wife and loving mother and grandmother. Her kindness towards others was extraordinary. All who knew her loved her and will miss her. 
Survives include her husband, Otto ‘Butts’ Peterson, Merrill; two daughters, Diane Osness, and Roxane (Lyle) Eggersgluess, both of Merrill; one son, Jeff Peterson of Dallas, Georgia; her grandchildren, Aaron (Ginger) Osness of Merrill, Ransey (Kaitlin) Osness of Rhinelander, twins Loni Osness of Madison and Michelle Osness of Lexington, Kentucky, Sabrina and Kurt Eggersgluess both of Merrill, and Jessica Peterson of Dallas, Georgia; one great grandchild, Izzy; and a step great grandchild, Devon; a brother, Richard (Irene) Kohl of Woodruff; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Alice is preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Taylor Osness; and three sisters and their husbands, Marvel (Raymond) Bowman, Agnes (Edward) Adameak, and Mae (Fred) Nawrot. 
The family would like to thank Dr. Abrego and his side kick, Sherry, the Merrill Dialysis staff for the wonderful care they gave to Alice, and Alice’s 78 year old nurse (husband) who took care of her for years. 
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. Pastor Dennis R. Creswell will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Bethany Cemetery, town of Birch. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family. 
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to your favorite charity.
