THS battles split

The Tomahawk boys prevailed 54-40 in overtime in last Tuesday’s home contest with Chequamegon, but stumbled late in Friday’s 47-32 home loss with Antigo.
The Screaming Eagles turned a 28-21 halftime deficit into a late 41-38 lead. But the Hatchets knotted it at 45-45 by the end of regulation and used an 9-5 extra-time edge to win.
“It was a great win for us,” THS coach Tim Albert said. “We missed some free throws in regulation, but then we did a great job of knocking those free throws down in overtime to get the win.
“We continued to execute well offensively, and Jordan Roessler and Justin Jarvensivu got some real good looks and knocked them down. Defensively, we did a really good job on their high ball screen action, forcing them to go to their second and third looks.”

“We did a great job of running our stuff, we just couldn’t get anything to fall in the fourth,” Albert said. “And credit Antigo, they did a great job of building on their lead by making their free throws.”
