Road conditions expected to deteriorate today, tomorrow

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is closely monitoring the weather conditions that are expected during the next 24 hours across North Central Wisconsin.
Adding to the snow that came through the area early today, and just in time for afternoon/evening commuter traffic, the same storm will bring another blast of winter weather this afternoon. Most of North Central Wisconsin, south of Lincoln County, will see a mixture of freezing rain, snow and sleet beginning as early as 3 p.m. The storm is expected to change to snow late tonight and into tomorrow morning.
Counties north of Lincoln County will continue to see high accumulations of snow: totaling 15 inches or more in some locations.
Important driving tips during icy, slippery conditions include:
•Allow extra time for travel.
•Slow down and drive for conditions.
•Be sure to keep plenty of space between you and the car in front of you. Sudden stops and sharp turns will likely cause your car to lose control.
•Motorists are advised to be extra cautious on interchange ramps.
The Wisconsin State Patrol reminds commuters and travelers that road conditions may change quickly. If you must travel, motorists should be prepared for the unexpected. Check winter road conditions before leaving home by:
•Visiting 511wi.gov
•Following the region’s 511 Twitter feed @511wi_NoCentral
•Or calling 5-1-1
