Bluejays make no Assumptions

After a series of tough Valley losses, the Bluejay girls tennis team closed out its dual season with last Tuesday’s satisfying 7-0 win over Wis. Rapids Assumption .
“We had a great day on the courts, winning every match in straight sets,” MHS coach Janet Thompson said. “The girls played very smart tennis. Our singles players consistently moved their opponents around the court, especially pulling them forward then winning points with passing shots and lobs. Our doubles teams were very successful because they were able to close in on the net in these matches more than they have been all season.
“Kayla and Katie also did a great job of keeping their shots low to force opponents to hit up from below net height. With Alli and Grace, as well as Alissa and Cassy, success came mostly from hitting consistent cross court shots and keeping balls away from players at the net.”
