Tomahawk swimmers work historic finish at Ashwaubenon

The Hatchet swim team posted its top finish ever with a fourth in Saturday’s top-quality 12-team Jaguar Invite at Ashwaubenon.
“I am so proud of their effort!” THS coach Theresa L’Esperance said. “We talked about showing the Fox Valley and the DI schools who we are, and to give our all in the pool. We did that and more.
“This meet is a very competitive and difficult meet with only two D2 schools present, us and Clintonville. It gives the girls a chance to practice their best swimming, handle stress, feel pressure, and take their swimming to the next level.”
Lauren Hilt collected 4 medals, anchoring the winning 200 free relay (1:43.01), 2nd in the 100 free (:54.95) and 3rd in the 50 free (:24.99) and 200 medley relay (1:58.28)
“The 200 free relay was seeded first, and we decided to show the D1 schools we could hold up to their standard and swim our best time of the year,” L’Esperance said. “We have never swam this fast ever in any season!”
Morgan Weber, Mikhayla Kleich and Rachel Dallman kicked off the 200 free relay, while Michaela Galganski, Weber and Dallman finished the 200 medley.
Baylee Dallman swam a PR :58.16 to help THS place 5th in the 400 free relay with sister Rachel, Kleich and Weber (3:54.55).
Rachel and Weber tied for 7th in the 50 free (:26.17). The ‘B’ relay of Galganski, Taylor Hansen, Jackie Elliott and B. Dallmann rated 9th in the 200 free (1:52.10). Baylee was 11th in the 100 free (:59.35).
Home cruise
The Hatchets blocked the Chargers 98-57 in Thursday’s home dual.
“We backed off on our varsity swimmers by just swimming three events, to help rest up for Saturday,” THS coach Theresa L’Esperance said. “In addition, the ladies swam some events they rarely get a chance to swim. The Hatchets also swam exhibition to allow Wittenberg to score more points.  We did not need to rack up the score.”
Wins came from: Hilt (200 free, 100 fly); Kleich (200 IM); Katherine Russell (100 free); R. Dallmann (500 free, new freshman record iof 5:54.67, surpassing the oldest record on the books, Emily Zuelsdorf”s time of 5:55.05 in 2000); B. Dallmann (100 back); Kirstin Marks (100 brea); the 200 medley (B. & R. Dallmann, Karli Cecil, Weber); 200 free relay (Hilt, Elliott, Marcks, Russell); and the 400 free relay (Klecih, Galganski, Hansen, R. Dallmann).
