Bernice Schmidt, of Merrill, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 under the care of Interim Hospice at Bell Tower Residence.
Bernice was born Aug. 3, 1922 in the Town of Berlin to the late Edward and Della (Utech) Luedtke. She married Lyndon Schmidt June 5, 1941. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1989.
Bernice was a homemaker and also dairy farmed with Lyndon. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Birthday Card Club and Neighbor Card Club. Bernice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, shopping and traveling.
She is survived by her sons: Gerald (Dawn) Schmidt and Dan Schmidt; five grandchildren: Brad Schmidt, Amy (Jeremy) Krueger, Troy (Tasha) Schmidt, Chad (Jenny) Schmidt and Travis (Holly) Schmidt; eight great-grandchildren: Bryanna and Brandon Schmidt, Christian and Ava Schmidt, Elizabeth, Michael and Olivia Schmidt and Mila Schmidt. She is further survived by brother Rodney (Liz) Luedtke, sister-in-law Violet Schmidt and many other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Lyndon, she was preceded in death by sister, Vila Krueger, brother-in-law, Herbert Krueger, and brother-in-law, Stanley Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 at Waid Funeral Home and again from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Friday. Burial will follow in Snow Hill Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at bell Tower Residence and Interim Hospice for their kindness and care.
