Duane M. Mahn, age 87, of Merrill, died Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Duane was born February 5, 1927, in Merrill, daughter of the late Louis and Edna (Krueger) Williquette. She married Lorton Mahn on March 26, 1949. He survives. Duane was a graduate of Merrill Senior High School. She was employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Company, Merrill, for 34 years prior to her retirement. Duane worked hard all her life and loved her children with all her heart. She was very proud of her son, Scott, and her daughter Kristine, and also had a very special love for her son in law, Gene. She enjoyed the opportunities to go shopping or visit with her daughter, sisters, and her special godchild, Johann (Stewart) Doty. A special time in the summer of 2011 was when Duane, and her sisters Ruthie, and Elaine were brought together by their daughters, Kristine Eagan, Johann Doty, and Tammi Wiedeman for a joyful gathering of memories. Duane enjoyed animals, especially all her dachshunds. Nature was special to her and she enjoyed a home in the country for many years. Christmas was a very special time of the year for Duane with baking and decorating, and bringing the family together to celebrate the birth of Christ. Duane was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Lorton Mahn, Merrill; son, Scott L. Mahn, Merrill; daughter, Kristine (Gene) Eagan, Prairie du Sac, WI; and one sister, Ruthie Jonas, Wausau. Duane was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Edna Williquette, two sisters, Elaine C. Wendt and Ila Davis, one brother, Lawrence ‘Sonny’ Williquette, and her aunt, Grace Swett.
A private family funeral service will be held. Entombment will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
