Mosinee tops Tomahawk softball

The Hatchet softball team hung within a 5-0 score of Mosinee in last Tuesday’s regional semi-final contest.
The state’s #2 Indians would capture the regional title by an 11-1 score over Medford two days later.
Alex Duplayee scattered 8 hits in Tuesday’s game, giving up just one earned run.
“The Hatchets came to play, putting forth a great effort against a very good Mosinee team,” THS coach John Larson said. “Alex pitched very well. Defensively, the Hatchets came up with some big plays, along with Alex’s arm, to get out of bases-loaded jams in the fourth and fifth innings. This kept the game within reach.
“Unfortunately, the Hatchets couldn’t get the bats going, collecting just one hit. It’s always hard when the season comes to an end, but knowing you played pretty well against a 23-2 team makes it a little easier.”
Alicia Kurth (1-3) doubled in the seventh to break up the no-hitter from Rochelle Koshalek.
Tomahawk– 000 000 0–0.
