MHS golfers tie Evergreens

The Bluejay golfers worked hard to avoid the basement of the Valley series in Friday’s final meet at Marshfield’s RiverEdge G.C. on Friday. But their sixth-place finish combined with a fifth for D.C. Everest left the teams tied for bottom ranking. Wausau West, last on Friday, ranked fifth in the series.
Pagel ended up ranked 11th in individual standings with 26.5 points, while Guenther tied for 14th with 18.5. Both earn WVC Honorable Mention.

The Jays placed seventh, but just three strokes behind fifth-place D.C.E., cutting Merrill’s overall lead over the Evergreens to one point.
“Mike Pagel and Philip Guenther have been steady for us lately,” Mertens said. “I know the remaining varsity guys will keep working on their games to improve for the upcoming regionals.”
