General surgeon joins Marshfield Clinic Merrill Center

Dr. Matthew Doering, a Marshfield Clinic general surgeon, now provides surgery services at the Clinic’s Merrill Center, 1205 O’Day St.
Doering has over 20 years of experience as a general surgeon, seeing patients in Weston and Wausau. In addition to seeing patients in those communities, he joins Dr. Steven Dahm on the general surgery team in Merrill, where he’ll see patients weekly for office-based. He’ll also perform outpatient surgeries at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center.
“As a general surgeon, I evaluate and manage many types of medical situations, including abdominal pain, breast health issues and hernias,” Doering said. “While much of what I do does not involve surgery, I find satisfaction performing surgical procedures that can make an immediate, substantial improvement in someone’s life. I want to treat the whole patient.”
Doering has an interest in laparoscopic hernia surgeries, breast health issues and surgery related to cancer.
“It’s important to tailor a woman’s preparation, surgery and follow-up to her unique situation, and to coordinate her treatment plan, working side-by-side with multiple physicians, sometimes including a plastic surgeon,” Doering said.
By providing the service in Merrill, patients will continue to have local access to the Clinic’s high-quality surgeons.
“We take pride in being available for our patients locally so they don’t have to travel,” said Dr. Barbara Crapster-Pregont, the Clinic’s primary care medical director in Merrill.
