Waid Funeral Home in Merrill held a Memory Bear Workshop Friday and Saturday. During the workshop, participants can create a teddy bear in memory of a loved one.
“We are so thrilled that we are able to provide this event for the community, said Anna Winningham, funeral director at Waid Funeral Home. “We have family members from the very old to the very young that come and spend these couple days with us. We have volunteers that come in and help the families with the process of cutting out the teddy bear pattern from their loved ones’ clothing, designing the bear and sewing it together. The funeral home staff donates their time as well. We plan on continuing to do this event twice a year – the Spring and the Fall. It is so nice to see families share memories of their loved ones with each other and the staff – it moves them in the right direction in the healing process, a really positive step.”
