House fire in town of Schley

On Saturday at 2:51 a.m. Lincoln County dispatch received a 911 call of a house fire at N4574 Wyant Ave. in the town of Schley. The owner of the house returned home to find smoke coming from the eaves.
Upon arrival of a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy, heavy smoke was reported and he could not make entrance to the house. The Town of Russell Fire Department arrived on scene at 3:04 a.m.
No people were in the house at the time, but the homeowner stated that there were two dogs inside.
The Russell Fire Department made an interior attack to knock down the fire. Interior crews were ordered out of the building due to heat inside and extremely heavy roof load. Firefighters then proceeded to fight a defensive attack.
At 4:27 a.m., Russell Fire Department called for manpower from the Pine River Fire Department. The fire was contained to the rear of the house. Firefighting efforts were hampered by the construction of the building. Units were on scene for six and a half hours. No injuries were reported but the two dogs were lost in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
