?Strong Women Strong Bones? classes starting in March

The new series of Strong Women Strong Bones will begin in March. Classes include progressive weight training, flexibility and balance activities.
Essential to staying strong and vital during older adulthood is participation in regular strengthening exercises, which help to prevent osteoporosis and frailty by stimulating the growth of muscle and bone. Feeling physically strong also promotes mental and emotional health. Strength training exercises are easy to learn, and they have been proven safe and effective through years of research.
Classes are offered from 8-9 a.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays; 1-2 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays; and 5-6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Instructors are Janet Thompson, Amanda Kostman, Charmaine Hill and Meghan Young. All are wellness professionals and have been certified by the Strong Women program.
A new session will begin the week of March 3 and will run for eight weeks. This program is offered through a partnership between UW-Extension, Riverside Athletic Club and Marshfield Clinic. For more information, call 715-539-1072.
