Melvin L. Wangerin

Melvin L. Wangerin, age 91, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. 
Melvin was born Oct. 16, 1922 in Merrill to the late Leonard and Wilhelmina “Minie” (Hinze) Wangerin. He married Jeanette Pahls on Aug. 7, 1943 in Merrill. She preceded him in death Sept. 30, 1982. 
Melvin worked in Merrill and Sheboygan and was employed as a glass cutter at (Semco) Semling and Menke, retiring in 1983. In free time he enjoyed building WWII model airplanes, which he enjoyed hanging from the ceiling in his basement. He also enjoyed playing Yatzee, shopping around in Goodwill Stores and working with his flowers around the yard. He enjoyed his trip to Oshkosh for the annual air show. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeannette, a brother Floyd Wangerin, sisters Evelyn Garbe and Lenora Brinkley, a grandson Carey Neumann and a long time friend Kate Cannon. He is survived by three daughters, Gloria Hlava Sirmons of Abilene, TX, Sandra (Floyd) Bagley of Merrill, Bonnie (Mark) Bubolz of Sycamore, IL; and a son David (Pam) Wangerin of Merrill; grandchildren, Randy Neumann, Connie Hlava, John Hlava, Lisa Baumann, Scott Bagley, Todd Wangerin, Jill Anderson, Michael Wangerin; and 14 great grandchildren.
A private funeral service was held at the Waid Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 15.
