Roger Trumblay
Roger Trumblay, age 76, of Merrill, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.
Roger was born on Oct. 17, 1937, in Chicago, son of the late Walter and Agnes (Paschke) Trumblay. He married Elena ‘Lana’ Racevicius on Jan. 21, 1970, in Illinois. She survives.
Roger served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He enlisted on Dec. 9, 1960 and was honorably discharged on Nov. 13, 1962. During his service, Roger was awarded the ‘Sharpshooter’ badge. Roger had worked as a wireman for AT&T for almost 30 years. In 1983, Roger, Lana and their two children moved to the Merrill area. In 1990, Roger and Lana started working with the local farmers market selling their homegrown vegetables and flowers. At that point, Roger also ran his business ‘Roger’s Flowers’ out of his home on Hillside Drive in Merrill. Roger and Lana also sold night crawlers. Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing poker.
Survivors include his wife, Elena ‘Lana’ Trumblay, of Merrill; two sons, Sean (Stacie Wocelka) Trumblay and Dan (Diana Harder) Trumblay, both of Merrill; three grandchildren, Nicole, Ryan and Brennon; and two sisters, Marietta Buzel and Delores Jatho, both of Chicago; and a sister-in-law, (Lana’s twin sister) Dana (Ray) Doebson, Texas. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and five siblings, Antoinette West, Louise Mueller, Richard Trumblay, Lawrence Trumblay and Walter Trumblay.
A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, with a Memorial Talk at 7 p.m. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
