Rosalie M. Curtis

Rosalie M. Curtis, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2014 at her home in Gleason. Rosalie was born to August and Josephine (Sell) Pankow on August 5, 1938 in the town of Merrill. She married Edward Charles Curtis on May 24, 1957 in Merrionette Park, IL.
Rosalie worked at the Weinbrenner Shoe Co. in Merrill and most recently at the Hwy 51 truck stop as a dishwasher for many years. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She was a full-time grandma, even considered a second mom to her grandchildren. She loved to spoil them, but most of all, she loved to beat them in a fun game of cards! Rosalie was referred to as “Ta-Ta” by many of her family. She loved playing bingo and solving puzzles with her family. Rosalie was not much for traveling – she would much rather stay around home and spend quality time with her family. This past Thanksgiving was such a wonderful time for all of them together, it will be a wonderful and precious memory that her kids, grandkids and great grandkids will always remember. Rosalie had spent some time with her grandkids at Jim Peck’s farm. She will be greatly missed. Rosalie was a very generous person, giving to a variety of charities. She enjoyed just sitting back and watching nature and wildlife.
Survivors include her children; Lynda (Patrick) Gustin of Gleason and Edward Curtis of Wausau; granddaughters, Roxanne (Shawn) Van De Weerd of Merrill, Crystal (Larry) Roper of Gleason, Holly (Steve) Schuett of Merrill and Mary Meyerhoff (Kevin) of Wausau; grandsons, Michael (Brittney) Curtis of Wausau and Timothy Curtis of Wausau; great- grandchildren, Jacob, Dominic, Bryce, Nicholas, Ronan, Destinee, Trinitee, Joseph and Preston; brother James Pankow of Merrill; sister, LoRae Larry of Madison. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; infant daughter, Susan Marie and her fiancé, “Lefty”.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
