Ministry Health Care supports Merrill Food for Kids program

Each fall, facilities throughout the Ministry Health Care System celebrate the history and reaffirm the commitment to furthering the healing ministry of Jesus by continually improving the health and well-being of all people, especially the poor, in the communities we serve during Mission and Values Week.
As part of this celebration and in recognition of the commitment and important role that Ministry associates, physicians and volunteers together play in our healing ministry, Ministry Health Care has made a $1,500 donation to the Merrill Food for Kids program.
Food for Kids is designed to meet the needs of hungry children in the Merrill community at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and vacation during the school year.
A small bag is filled by volunteers who deliver the bags to schools. On Fridays, the bags are placed into children’s regular backpacks. The children who participate need parental permission and are chosen according to need by the school staff.
The program is sponsored by the Merrill Area Salvation Army in partnership with the Community Food Pantry and St. Vincent de Paul of Merrill and is in its second year. Food for Kids is currently serving 72 children at Kate Goodrich and Jefferson Elementary schools. Washington school will also be offered the program when funds allow.
