New Lincoln County plat book now on sale

Who owns Lincoln County? Thousands of people have a piece of it, and they are listed in the new plat book published by the Lincoln County 4-H Leaders’ Association with Mapping Solutions and printed locally by Reindl Printing. The 2013 book is available for purchase for $35 at the UW Extension Office located in the Lincoln County Service Center Lower level at 801 N. Sales St. in Merrill. Large premium wall maps are available by special order. For more information, contact the UW-Extension Office at (715) 539-1072 or go to the Plat Book page at http://lincoln.uwex.edu/plat-book .
The new edition features township and range maps of Lincoln County with aerial view photos on opposing pages. These maps include the property boundaries for all rural parcels within the township, the name of the owner and the number of acres owned. Also, there is a handy landowner index for cross referencing. Due to the large number of small lot sizes, the book does not include those maps of landowners within Lincoln County towns, villages and cities. That information is available to the public through the Lincoln County Land Information and Conservation Department at 715-539-1049.
The 116-page spiral bound book also contains a useful Recreation Guide with Lincoln County lake information and maps of trails, public lands, the Otter Lake Recreation Area, Underdown Horse Trails, and Underdown Ski Trails. Other resources included in the book are a list of Lincoln County Government Officials, a short portrait of Lincoln County, and information about the local 4-H organization. Other maps included are a county road map as well as municipal maps of Merrill and Tomahawk. A description of the land survey system is an added bonus.
This information is valuable to anyone with a need to know who owns land in Lincoln County. Prospective or adjoining property owners, hunters, foresters, timber and petroleum industry personnel, emergency services and many others would be interested in having a copy.
The sale of 4-H sponsored plat books is the major source of funding for 4-H youth program in Lincoln County.  4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills.
