Christmas activities at Trinity on Dec. 7

Reflect on the true meaning of Christmas as you view the Outdoor Living Nativity on the Trinity Church parking lot, at the corner of State and West Main streets in Merrill from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. Viewing the Living Nativity with your family and friends is a great way to begin your Christmas preparations and a way to teach young children the Christmas story as they view the Biblical characters, the donkey and other live animals in this recreated scene of that first Christmas long ago.
Starting at 3 p.m. in Trinity’s church basement, there will be a bread, candy and cookie sale to help you out with your holiday baking. Favorite Christmas recipes will be prepared by the ladies of the Dorcas.
A warm and delicious soup meal runs from 3-6 p.m. in the Trinity Church basement. This free soup meal features seven different kinds of soups including chicken noodle, chicken dumpling, pea and ham, chili, plus other delicious soups. The menu includes cheese, crackers, bread, cookies, coffee and milk. Carryouts will be available.
After the bread, candy and cookie sale, the free soup meal and viewing the Outdoor Nativity, all are invited to the indoor 7 p.m. church service at Trinity as the coming Christmas season is celebrated. A huge Christmas tree will greet you as you enter trimmed in gold and white with white doves perched in the branches. Inside the church the tall tree will be filled with angels, snowflakes and white lights, with two trees by the altar decorated in white and blue. Along the windows, candles and cardinals nestle in boughs trimmed with gold and white bows. Celebrate the Christmas season by hearing the Word and singing favorite Christmas hymns.
On your way home, you can purchase a Christmas tree or wreath across the street next to Trinity School. The tree lot opened Nov. 23 and includes balsam, fir, white pine, scotch pine, fraser fir and canaan. Register to win a $50 gift certificate from Piggly Wiggly or County Market.
