I would hope that when people stop in at the Merrill Area Community Enrichment Center they would see the passion we have for helping people in need. Whether it is lending support, referring to other agencies or simply listening to those who need to share we are here for you!
This past month the ALASO Support Group “Always loving and supporting others” moved to Ministry Health Center Good Samaritan Center located at 601 S. Center Ave., Merrill.
If you are not familiar with ALASO, it was created in 2011 to help support those who were suffering from losses in their lives. We often experience losses in the daily process of living. Losses and changes can impact a person’s life, often forever. Loss of relationships, loss of health, loss of employment and the list can go on and on.
There are different types of losses, but there is life beyond that pain; recovering from loss doesn’t mean forgetting, but knowing that others have lost and survived allows us to heal and well. No one is alone is this life!
Women of all ages are encouraged to attend. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at the hospital. Jane A. Deau will be the facilitator of the group. I found that I was unable to find support groups to deal with the losses that I was going through … now years later I am blessed to be able to provide that support to others.
