Walk for Dementia raises funds, awareness

The first Annual Walk for Dementia in Merrill, held on Oct. 5 at Bell Tower Residence, raised over $8,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. According to Sister Peggy Jackelen, Administrator at Bell Tower Residence, “The committee that planned this event is overwhelmed by the support given.”

Around 65 individuals braved the rain to bring awareness to dementia. The event was sponsored by the Holy Cross Sisters and Ministry Health Good Samaritan Center. “We are grateful for their support and that of the many businesses in the community that provided food and beverages for our walkers,” Sister Peggy said.
A check presentation will be made at a later date to the Alzheimer’s Association. Bell Tower Residence is a sponsored ministry of the Holy Cross Sisters and managed by Franciscan Communities.
