Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office as well as officers from the Merrill Police Department took Dustin Carl Elsholtz into custody Sunday evening after releasing information to the public in an effort to find him.
Elsholtz, 27, was wanted by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and was also being sought as a person of interest in burglaries and thefts in Lincoln County.
Elsholtz had a warrant issued by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for violating terms of his probation on Sept. 9, and deputies in Lincoln County sought to speak to him regarding property crimes in the Merrill area dating back to August.
On Thursday evening, a Merrill Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Elsholtz was a passenger on Airport Road north of Taylor Street, but Elsholtz fled into the woods.
