Julia Cordova

Julia Cordova, age 82, passed away on October 2, 2013 at Golden Living Center – Golden Age, surrounded by her family.
Julia was happiest when she was doing something for others, especially her family. She always welcomed people into her home with open arms, making them feel as family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Julia was a wonderful cook and was constantly busy providing for her family. Among her favorite things to do were bird watching, sewing, baking, gardening, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family. She was involved with St. Mary’s School while her children were students there. She volunteered at the St. Mary’s Thrift Cellar, was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club, playing bingo at the nursing home, and did many other countless jobs helping others. She will be sadly missed by all!
Julia was born April 6, 1931 in Park Falls, the daughter of Joseph H. and Anna (Kadrlik) Ledvina. Julia met Alfred Cordova on a blind date set up by some friends in Illinois. They were married April 21, 1951 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Chicago. Julia and Alfred spent most of their fifty-nine years of marriage raising their thirteen children and working on their family farm.
Julia is survived by their thirteen children: Louis (Jean) Cordova, Tomahawk, Joseph Cordova, Tomahawk, Kathy (Jay) VanRyen, Tomahawk, Al (Kris) Cordova, Tomahawk, Colleen (Robert) Schuett, Tomahawk, Julia (Robert) Pankow, Tomahawk, Jean (Darrell) Mroczenski, Tomahawk, Tom (Audrey) Cordova, Tomahawk, Mary (Mike) Maguire, Mosinee, Christine (John) Enjaian, Antigo, Ed (Julie) Cordova, Merrill, Rich (Lora) Cordova, Rosholt, and Juanita (Joe) Skubal, Tomahawk, three sisters, Ann Brady, Milwaukee, Veronica Grunert, Green Bay, and Margaret Boness, Park Falls, four brothers, John Ledvina, Milwaukee, Larry Ledvina, Necedah, Joe Ledvina, and Ed Ledvina, both of Butternut. Julia is further survived by thirty-eight grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Al, two brothers, Louis and Lloyd Ledvina, infant sister Agnes, and sister-in-law, Eileen Ledvina, brother-in-law, Dick Cordova, daughter-in-law, Lynn Cordova, grandson, Joey Mroczenski, and great grandson, Keegan Palmer.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Julia Cordova will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk, Fr. John Anderson presiding. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 4th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk, with a Vigil Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of Mass at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
Per Julia’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Mary’s Legacy Fund.
