Merrill VFW Post 1638 & Auxiliary National Citizenship Education Teacher Award Grades K-12

Help honor and recognize outstanding Merrill teachers by nominating them for the National Citizenship Education Teacher Award K-12. Any teacher teaching grades K-12 (teaching at least half of the school day) is eligible. Fellow teachers, supervisors or other interested individuals (not relatives) can nominate a teacher by filling out the designated nomination form and in 350 words or less, describe why you feel your nominee should be selected as one of America’s finest educators. Describe the teacher’s innovative teaching and resource development methods, as well as his or her dedication to education.

VFW’s National Citizenship Education Teacher Award First place is recognized by VFW Post 1638 with a recognition plaque at our annual Voice of Democracy banquet and forwarded to State VFW Competition. A first place finish will advance to national competition for a chance to win $1,000 for each of the top K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 teachers for professional development expenses, $1,000 for each winning teacher’s school, and an all-expenses paid trip to attend the VFW and Ladies Auxiliary National Conference. Nominations must be received by Nov. 1.
Request nomination forms by calling Russ Iwen at 715-432-7188, or by visiting the VFW.org web page.
