Edward ?Ed? Miller

Edward “Ed” Miller, age 67, passed away on Sept. 12, 2013 in the town of Pine River.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1946 to Dorothy (Zowada) Miller and Edward Chester Miller in the city of Chicago, IL. He decided to serve his country and joined the United States Army on Jan. 24, 1966 and was stationed in Germany. After serving his country, Ed started making his own fishing lures, and started a business selling those lures, called Miller Tackle Co.
Ed married Judy Miller in Palatine, IL on May 10, 1984. Ed started his own carpet company, which he continued with for over 40 years. He laid carpet and made custom rugs. Ed was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing the Council Grounds area in Merrill. He had even won a fishing boat. Ed loved trains and spent a lot of time building elaborate railroad train sets in the basement of his home. He was very detailed with his train setups, every one getting bigger and better than the last. Ed enjoyed spending time with his cat named “Kitty” and even put in a little door for her to go outside. He loved to cook and was a wonderful gourmet cook.
Ed is survived by his sisters, Judy Kendall of Tulsa, OK, and Kathi Miller of Streamwood, IL; nephews, Michael (Paula) Kendall and Christopher (Kelly) Zapfe; nieces, Melissa Kendall and Rebecca Utley; grandnieces, Kari, Megan, Micaela, Emily and Karli; grandnephews, Dillon, Keagan, Gavin and Gage; stepchildren, Brian and Kim; step grandchildren, David, O.J, Valarie and Vinnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy, and his step granddaughter, Samantha.
A funeral liturgy was held on Sept. 17 at the Waid Funeral Home, with Father Kleinheinz officiating. A private burial will be at the St. Francis Cemetery in Merrill at a later time.
