Joan D. Rostal, age 89, passed into eternal Life on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013.
She was born on July 29, 1924 to Charles and Victoria (Walters) Ament. On Sept. 13, 1947 she married Gordon Rostal. Joan was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jo Laabs (Eric Erickson), Marenisco, MI; her sister, Ruth Strasman, Merrill; three grandsons, Christopher Knospe (Teiva Campbell), Oostburg, WI, Nathan Knospe, Merrill, and Benjamin (Trina) Knospe, Merrill; three great-grandsons, Daenen Knospe, Finnegan Knospe and Willett Knospe; two step-grandchildren, Ted Laabs (Raquel Albrecht), Wausau, and Kristin (Dan) Wadzinski, Wausau; one step-great grandchild, Noah Bolling, Merrill; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phil and Phyllis Sheil; nephews, Scott (Jan) Sheil, Mike (Sue) Sheil; nephews, Greg (Mary) Ament, Andy (Jan) Ament, Charlie Ament and Steve (Lana) Strasman; and cousins, nephews and nieces.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon; grandson, Michael Knospe; two brothers, Lawrence “Bud” Ament and Charles “Shorty” Ament; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Ament and Peg Ament.
The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. Father Michael McLain will preside. Burial will take place in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. The visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday and again from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, all at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill.
