Upper Room offers fall programs

The Upper Room announces its fall programs. All women are welcome to join for any of the following:
Grains of Wheat meets every Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. for coffee, bread and good conversation. We begin with a short essay or reflection and center our conversation around that theme. No charge. A freewill offering is appreciated.
Circle of Hope meets the third Friday of the month from 10:00 am to noon. We begin a new book Sept. 20, Sabbath Sense, by Donna Schaper, which invites us to a spiritual place of enough: enough time, enough rest and enough play. Coffee and dessert are provided. Suggested offering: $10 per session which includes refreshments and the cost of the book.
Mother Bear Project meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm beginning Sept. 18. The Mother Bear Project is a non-profit organization started by a Minnesota mother. Participants purchase an easy pattern for $5 to knit or crochet a stuffed teddy bear that will be distributed to needy children in Africa. Over 88,000 have been shipped worldwide since 2003. Only basic knitting or crocheting skills are needed. A half hour introductory meeting begins at 6:30 pm on Aug. 28. Making the bears can be done alone at home or with the group at the Upper Room.
The Upper Room is a non-denominational spiritual gathering place where women from all faith backgrounds and walks of life are welcomed and is located at 1004 1/2 East Main Street, downtown Merrill, directly above the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store.
