Merrill City Band and M&M?s tonight

Marches, movies, musicals, and more are on the program for tonight’s Merrill City Band concert, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Normal Park Gazebo with guest director Michael Chula at the helm.
“The band members love to play, so we’re looking forward to some nice weather after being rained out earlier in the summer and canceled last week because of the heat,” notes director Linda Becker. Cancellations are broadcast on Merrill’s WJMT and Tomahawk’s WJJQ, as well as Facebook. The group is also planning some type of sign to put in the park, should future cancellations occur. “A rained out concert is pretty obvious to concert-goers, but there were a few fans who didn’t know about it last week and we need to find a way to communicate that to those that don’t hear it on the radio or follow us on Facebook,” says the director. The band is adding a performance to their schedule for Aug. 14.
Next week, July 31, “This Concert Is So Cliche” will be back on the program. Vocal soloist Jennifer Aarrestad will be featured on “God Bless America” and “Over The Rainbow.” Other selections include “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is,” “Look For The Silver Lining,” “It’s A Small World,” “When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going,” and more.
There is a 50/50 raffle each week, as well as prizes from local businesses. The last raffle winner went home with almost $250. Delicious popcorn and lemonade will be available from HAVEN, and tasty M & M’s will be for sale this week. Come on down to the park with your lawn chairs, blankets, a picnic supper, and a smile.
